(As a firm of Orange County DUI lawyers, who also take Los Angeles DUI cases, we often get notification of other DUI checkpoints in surrounding areas – which is why we present the following, as sent to our firm, for your information, without commentary. Caveat Propaganda — ).
On Saturday, November 14, 2009, the Long Beach Police Department is conducting a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. The checkpoint will be located at Ocean Boulevard and Chestnut Place. In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes, DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving.
A major component of these checkpoints is to increase awareness of the dangers of impaired driving and to encourage sober designated drivers. A DUI Checkpoint is a proven effective method for achieving this goal. By publicizing these enforcement and educational efforts, the Long Beach Police Department believes motorists can be deterred from drinking and driving.
Traffic volume and weather permitting, all vehicles may be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be arrested. Our objective is to send a clear message to those who are considering driving a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol and/or drugs – Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest. The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
Funding for this operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

‘The Hills‘ actress stopped for drunk driving in Hollywood early Sunday morning.
Stephanie Pratt was arrested for driving under the influence in Los Angeles early Sunday morning on October 18. The actress reportedly had tweeted earlier in the evening that she was attending fellow ‘Hills’ star Heidi Montag‘s birthday party at ‘Empire’, a Hollywood hotspot. The two left the party around 2:00am and headed to ‘Beso’ for another hour.
Pratt was stopped in Hollywood around 3:45 am and booked for suspicion of California DUI. She posted $5000 bond and was released around 10:00 am Sunday.
The day before her CA DUI arrest, Pratt had told a tabloid website that she was focused on safe driving because a friend had passed away following a car accident. She said that ‘everyone needs to drive safe.’

As one of the few Lawyers that handle DUI cases in Orange County, I present this as a public service:
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting a DUI checkpoint in the city of Laguna Hills on Friday, November 6, 2009, from 6:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. – the announcement doesn’t mention the location, although it’s sure to be somewhere near the bars of the Irvine Spectrum, or Aliso Viejo, or El Toro Road (meaning watch out on Moulton).

I was sent the following press release due to my status as an Orange County DUI Lawyer. It’s not officially announced yet, but the Orange County Sheriff’s Department(OCSD) will be conducting a checkpoint in the City of Laguna Hills on Friday, November 10, 2006, from 9:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m.
The checkpoints are part of a grant the Sheriff’s Department received from the State of California Office of Traffic Safety, and are set up to target drivers who are driving a vehicle without a driver’s license and /or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The goal of the program is to reduce the rate at which the citizens of Orange County are killed or injured. Through implementations of these events, the OCSD hopes to significantly reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage in each of our contract cities.
According to the OCSD’s office, the checkpoint is also an event for the High School Media Challenge. During part of the checkpoint, high school journalism students will be allowed to observe the checkpoint operation and will receive a “Press Kit†with information related to driving under the influence. They will also learn about DUI laws related to teen driving and interview Deputies with expertise in detecting and arresting impaired drivers. The goal of the program is to encourage peer to peer education for teens on a variety of traffic safety
issues.
Funding for the High School Media Challenge is provided by the California Office of Traffic
Safety.
